Devotional Text: James 3:13-17

Introduction:
Wisdom is that “human impulse” that makes for the judicious application of knowledge and life’s experiences when situations demand. Similarly, the BBC English Dictionary renders wisdom as the ability to use one’s experience and knowledge to make sensible decisions and judgments. These definitions, as technical as they may be, carry a general sense of application. However, the designation “God’s kind of wisdom” suggests that in some instances, there could be corrupt or misapplied wisdom.
GENERAL REMARKS
(i)             “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom …”, (psalm 111:10).
(ii)           Wisdom comes from the Lord, (Prov. 2:6).
(iii)          Wisdom is acquired through humility, Prob. 11:2)
(iv)          One who lacks wisdom should ask God, (James 1:5).
THE BASES FOR GOD’S KIND OF WISDOM (ISAIAH 11:2).
            The basis of something is the foundation or the linking source. But, when the word takes a plural dimension (bases), several factors are considered. Biblically speaking, the main source of wisdom is the Spirit of God, (Isa. 11:2). However, in the acts of imparting wisdom into the lives of individuals, the Spirit of God uses;
(i)             the inward-teaching method, (psalm 51:6).
(ii)           the rod of correction method, (Prov. 29:15).
(iii)          the advice-giving method, (Prov. 13:10).
GOD’S KIND OF WISDOM AND PLANNING, (Jeremiah 10:12).
            There is no gainsaying the fact that the world is a demonstration of a well planned order. The cited scripture in this subtopic reveals that God founded this world by his wisdom. This points to the fact that a person of wisdom is a person of meticulous planning. By way of definition, planning is the working out of the details of what one wants to do, before embarking on it. Therefore, God’s kind of wisdom helps us;
(i)             plan what is good, (Prov. 14:22)
(ii)           know that plans fail without counsel, (Prov. 15:22).
(iii)          know that in answer to prayers God makes our plans to succeed, (Psalm 20:4).
GOD’S KIND OF WISDOM AND THE EXECUTION OF PROJECTS (PROVERBS 16:3).
            The planning of a project is not just enough, since it borders on the working out of the details of operation. A good plan requires the right kind of action. This is where organizing comes in. To organize is to put in place the necessary parts of something so that it works as a whole. It is natural that after organizing a project, the next line of action will border on execution. To execute a plan is to carry it out. Notably, the foregoing arrangements and execution require God’s kind of wisdom. Therefore, God’s kind of wisdom would lead one into:
(i)             committing one’s project to God for success, Prov. 16:3.
(ii)           the knowledge of the fact that advice is necessary in the process of executing one’s project, (Prov. 13:10).
(iii)          the knowledge of the fact that in executing our projects, we should not be wise in our own eyes, (Prov. 3:7).
In conclusion, and as indicated in the devotional text, wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, and without hypocrisy, ( James 3:17) PLEASE BE GUIDED .
