…THE REDEMPTIVE POWER OF THE BLOOD
Devotional Text: EPH. 1:3-7

Introduction:
The Blood of Jesus Christ is the only Blood for the redemption of mankind. Nothing else can wash away the stains of the human sins, but the Blood of Jesus Christ, as it is the only means by which a sinner can be cleansed to grant him the privilege to relate with the Lord. In this connection, the Scripture notes that, “without the shedding of the blood, there is no remission of sin, (Heb. 9:22), and without the remission of sin, there is no human relationship with the Lord, (Psalm 32:1). For, it is the Blood of Jesus Christ that brings us near to God, (Eph. 2:13).
GENERAL REMARKS

(1)     The Blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sins, (I John 1:7)
(2)     The Blood of Jesus Christ is the precious means of our redemption, (I Peter 1:18-19).
(3)     The Blood of Jesus Christ is the means of our redemption and forgiveness, (Col. 1:14).
(4)     TheBlood of Jesus Christ is equally the means of peace between God and man, and by it all things are reconciled to God (vs. 20).
THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST AND THE FORGIVENESS OF SIN
                        The Blood of Jesus Christ is the only hope for the forgiveness and cleansing of the sins of humanity. This implies that, no other blood, human or animal, carries the efficacy of removing the stains of sin from man, and, equally, no chemical, water or any other kind of fluid can do same. To this end, it becomes obvious that, water baptism; immersion or sprinkling, or other forms of religious rituals cannot remove or grant the forgiveness of sins. Having cited the above, therefore, let is be noted that;
(i)             the forgiveness of sin is only possible because of the shed Blood of Jesus Christ, (Heb. 9:22);
(ii)           the cleansing of sin is only possible through the Blood of Jesus Christ, (I John 1:7);
(iii)          the forgiveness and cleansing of sin are only possible through repentance, (Acts 3:19).
THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST AND REDEMPTION FROM SIN
The concept of “redemption” demonstrates the fact that Jesus Christ paid the full price for the sins of humanity by giving His life. The Scripture shows that, “the life of the flesh is in the blood”… (Lev. 17:11), which implies that the life of Jesus is in His Blood , and so, the impartation of this life becomes evident when one is washed with the Blood. In this connection, therefore, the Blood of Jesus Christ, which carries the price of laying down His life {John 15:13}, becomes the purchasing price for any sinner that returns to Him in repentance, for forgiveness and cleansing, (see Eph. 1:7). And, because;
(i)       all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, (Rom. 3:23);
(ii)     all, therefore, need redemption and forgiveness through His Blood, (Col 1:14), and so,
(iii)    all need to reconcile to God through Christ, (2 Cor. 5:20), in order to become cleansed, (I John 1:7).
THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST AND ETERNAL COVENANT
The Holy Scripture cites that, the Blood of Jesus Christ is the means of everlasting covenant (Heb. 13:20), and covenant, by way of definition, is an agreement between two or more individuals or parties. In the Old Testament, also, one observes that the covenant between God and Israel, was established through Blood, (Ex. 24:5-8); and the New Testament confirms this, (Heb. 9:18-20). But, since the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross, no other blood is required for atonement or covenant, but the Blood of Jesus Christ, (see Heb 10:10-14).
                        Therefore, for one to enter into eternal covenant with God, the applicability of the Blood of Jesus Christ is indispensably necessary. In line with this, therefore, one should know that:
(i)                   God desires to make covenant with individuals, community or group, (Heb 8:10);
(ii)                 for one, community or group to be qualified for the covenant, they require justification by grace through redemption in Christ, (Rom. 3:24).
(iii)                the Blood of Jesus Christ is definitely required as a means of making one complete in every good work in the covenant, (Heb. 13:20-21).
In conclusion, please recall that this lesson has concretely observed that forgiveness, cleansing and redemption of mankind are only possible through the Blood of Jesus Christ, and that it is also only by the same Blood that the eternal covenant with God can be achieved. DECIDE TODAY!
